Varanasi: With opening of online registration, the sansad (member of parliament) events, including sports, cultural, photography, sketching, spiritual studies, and general knowledge, started in the district on Tuesday.
District magistrate S Rajalingam on Wednesday said that online registration for Kashi MP sketching competition, painting competition, photography competition, cultural festival, sports competition, knowledge competition, and guide competition, has started. The logos, portal, and QR codes for these competitions have been launched, allowing participants to proceed with their registration and other formalities, he added.
He announced that the sketching and painting competition are scheduled from October 25 to November 10, 2024. Nodal officers have been appointed for competitions and the promotion of events. Coordination with all schools, colleges, and universities in rural and urban areas will ensure maximum participation, he said, adding that social and voluntary organisations, unions of lawyers, doctors, traders, corporators, fair price shop owners, ASHA and anganwadi workers are being involved to mobilise people for large-scale participation.
The sports competition 2024 is scheduled from Nov 4 to Dec 20, 2024. The list of sports grounds at the village panchayat, justice panchayat, development block/zone level, and district level will be finalised, and the jury/judging panel for each event will be identified within a week. Referee lists will be prepared with the help of trainers from the SAI Center, wrestling, shooting association, and other related associations. The block-level committee will ensure the availability of facilities in village panchayats. Arrangements for sports instruments, etc., will be ensured at every sports ground. Registration for this also started on October 15.
The photography competition is scheduled from Oct 25 to Nov 10, while the knowledge competition is scheduled from Dec 10 to 20. The regional higher education officer will encourage all students from universities and colleges to participate in these competitions and initiate maximum registration.
The tourist guide competition is scheduled from January 10 to 25, for which deputy director of tourism has been appointed as the nodal officer. He has been instructed to organise the competition based on topics related to the city’s important sites, monuments, temples, ghats, alleys, households, festivals, etc., through essays, reels, and briefs.
