Being an amateur triathlete and UCI Level I mechanic himself, Aung Moe Myint, the Managing Director of SGT has in-depth understanding of the sport equipment space. The knowledge that he gained through his prior involvement in sports enables him to provide necessary information to the consumers regarding the products. Guidance and quality has become the foundational base for SGT over the span of three years. Apart from one brick and mortar store, SGT has an e-commerce website as well. They emphasize on social media communication as it acts as a medium for customer engagement for them.
As a blooming startup, SGT consists of a small team where Myint takes care of orders, website design, social media interaction, customer support and market research. Their efficient team of mechanics undertakes maintenance and repairing of the bikes alongside assembling of new bikes. They hire international freelancers for certain projects as well. SGT currently ships all over Myanmar and other countries via DHL. They also have presence in Southeast Asia.

Future Endeavours
As increasing popularity of e-Commerce as well as m-commerce has a vital role to play in the further growth of sports equipment market it will induce more availability of international athletic gear brands globally. Keeping this in mind, SGT is planning to upgrade their website and expand their consumer base. “Due to the limited scope for growth that Myanmar offers for my business I am targeting to enhance my online presence full-fledged. In addition, I am looking forward to extend the business in Thailand this year. Upon upgrading our business website, we will be able to distribute in both countries. In the future, There are plans to establish my own bicycle brand as well, along with expanding our distribution operation in the international landscape”, Myint concludes.

Aung Moe Myint is the Managing Director & Owner of Sports Gear Trading. His current position is Managing Director. He has worked in Mechanical Engineer field for almost 20 years and has used his experience in Bicycle Mechanic work. He attended UCI Mechanic Level 1 course at World Cycling Centre (Korea) in 2018. He is helping a lot of Myanmar Cycling Federation Cycling events and their activities. He is finisher of 70.3 Ironman triathlon of Bangsaen, Thailand 2019. He competes in a lot of Cycling, Running and Triathlon events too.
